Tackling the food waste recycling issue has become a pressing concern everywhere in the world, including in Singapore. As a matter of fact, food waste is one of the biggest waste streams in Singapore¹ and its amount has kept increasing over the past years².

In 2021, the total amount of food waste generated was 817,000 tonnes of which only 19% was recycled. The rest of it was incinerated and the ash taken to Pulau Semakau landfill, Singapore’s one and only landfill.

Food waste recycling matter is all the more urgent and critical since Semakau, which was originally supposed to meet Singapore’s dumping needs until 2045, may run out of space as early as 2035.

Our vision is to bring innovative composting solutions to the community to transform food waste into a reusable resource while improving citizens’ awareness of sustainability and circularity to slowly yet durably change their behaviours.

¹ Food waste accounts for about 12 per cent of the total waste generated in Singapore
² Food waste amount has grown by around 20% in the last decade according to NEA
